Early Season Pre-Emerge

A lot of people wonder why we begin applying pre-emergent so early in the year.
Remember the old saying, “ An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” That couldn’t be more true than it is in lawn care!
We are trying to accomplish a couple things with this early treatment: 1. To prevent and control winter broadleaf weeds like henbit and clover from coming up in your lawn and 2. Sometimes grassy weeds try to get a head start and germinate early, so we add a product to keep them out as well. We use this same product again during our second early season pre-emerge treatment which give us season-long weed control over summer annuals, like crabgrass. During this treatment, we are also spraying to eliminate any actively growing weeds that may have tried to come up since our last visit.
